Gurus we were not with our guesses for Round 14 of the 2019 AFL fixture.
Right on three, wrong on three.
We must have been feeling the spirt by backing St. Kilda over Brisbane. Melbourne beating Fremantle spanned us and, well, Port beat Collingwood. Show of hands: How many got that one right?
Goodbye to that fictional stake of $300.
The three correct fantasy picks netted $417.
Far from our best.
Here is how we humbly see Round 15 of the Toyota 2019 AFL Premiership.
The round opens with GWS at Marvel Stadium to the host Essendon Bombers. The Ladbrokes site has the Giants favoured by 12.5, so it looks an easy pick to select GWS. The intake will be $1.50.
After what happened to Geelong last week, it was surprising to see them quoted 21.5-point favourites, as the Crows are the higher ranked club, but a closer line would not make us feel any better, so we think it will be the Cats. Coming our way if we are right: $130.
The betting figures for the Hawthorn Hawks and the West Coast Eagles are identical to game one of the fixture. This game at The G has us in mind of raptors and the stronger is the eagles, so we take West Coast for the $150.
We should skip Sydney beating the daylights out of the Suns at SCG, but we are not feeling charitable toward the market and the $116 from a Sydney win gets our nod for lock of the week.
It looks hard to go wrong picking Collingwood to make minced Roo pie out of North Melbourne and we gladly accept the prospect of $130 toward our financial well-being.
Richmond over St. Kilda and we truly appreciate the $128.
Brisbane to beat the Dees for $150 looks like another safe one.
Taking the Fremantle Dockers to beat the Carlton Blues in Perth seems like an easy way to grow by $128.
Again, we do not offer our comments as an inducement to wager and no one who does make the decision to bet should rely on our observations.
We are playing with board game money, having fun just the same.
