Cate Blanchett Favourite for Best Actress Oscar

As news boss Peter Meakin settles into his new role at Network Ten, Sportingbet.com.au has begun speculating which talent from his former place of employment, Channel 7, might be the first to join him at the Pyrmont studios.

Former Sunrise presenter Mel Doyle is the $2.50 favourite at Sportingbet. Doyle’s Sunrise replacement, Sam Armytage, is second favourite at $3.50.

“Meakin is on the record saying that Ten’s breakfast show Wake Up needs a shake up and Mel could be the answer to the show’s poor ratings,” Sportingbet spokesman Andrew Brown said.

“Sam is towards the top of betting because despite landing the Sunrise gig, it’s no secret that Meakin thinks she’s an incredible talent.”

Weekend Sunrise and The Daily Edition host Monique Wright is a third favourite at $5 in front of former Sunday to Thursday nightly news reader Chris Bath.

With the V8 Supercars returning to Ten from 2015, Mark Beretta ($12) and former Sports Tonight host Matt White ($15) are both in the market.

The Morning Show host Larry Emdur is the $21 outsider.

“Larry’s a Seven legend and we can’t seem him ever leaving for another network,” Brown said.
