Our picks for Round 11 of the Toyota 2019 AFL Premiership competition had us feeling rather grim after the first two games of the fixture.
We had backed all the favourites for our fantasy tipping, but the strategy backfired right out of the bounce.
The Roos beating the Tigers 99 – 62 was shocker number one.
We realise Richmond has been spotty this season, but they apparently showed up at Marvel Stadium without their stripes as well.
Shocker number two was Fremantle edging Collingwood 79 – 75 at MCG.
We did get the next seven consecutive right, however, and our slip was saved, although we thought this round was our best shot at getting all nine games correct.
Our figures for the round were, $900 staked, $200 lost and $968, less margin, in dividends, for a theoretical return of $1,668.
Not bad, considering the way things started and fie on thee both, Richmond and Collingwood.
North Melbourne lost to Fremantle by 82 points in the first round. Fremantle was beaten in Round two by Gold Coast.
Anyone who backed the Kangaroos to beat the Tigers is our genius of the home-and-away fixture award.
Collingwood? Well, they must have concluded that seven consecutive wins called for an adjustment, so they took the game off against the Dockers.
There are just six games for Round 12, so here are our guesses.
Geelong are favoured by 9.5 points over Richmond at The G. We will take the Cats for the win. $157 to us.
The Blues have home ground and a caretaker coach for the game with the Brisbane Lions. The Lions are favoured by 16.5 and our guess is that Brisbane will enjoy the tour. We are already spending the $140
Dare we back North Melbourne against Gold Coast? The Roos are favoured by 20.5, but they may be crisped by the Suns at Metricon, so we will make this our upset pick and back Gold Coast. We could use the $325.
GWS are favoured by 6.5 over the Adelaide Football Club and we do not believe the Adelaide Oval will supply a David v Goliath outcome, so we are backing the Giants. $167 coming our way.
We will go with the flow and take the Eagles to soar over Sydney and make us $165 richer.
Even though Collingwood cruelled us last week, we support them to beat the Dees at MCG and are counting on the Pies to deliver $135.
